280 foreign nationals arrested in a company in US for immigration rules violation
HYDERABAD: In what has been described as the largest worksite operation in the United States in the last one decade by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HIS), 280 foreign nationals working unlawfully in a company were arrested on April 3 in Texas.
"They segregated the employees depending on their visa status.
They employees were made to stand apart in different queues," an Indian national said describing the ICE operation at CVE company. Diana Solis, a journalist with Dallas News described the Indian national who she spoke to as a legal immigrant.
The raids were conducted at CVE Technology Group Inc. (CVE) Allen, which is 24 km from Dallas.
As part of an ongoing criminal investigation, special agents with US immigration and customs enforcement’s (ICE) homeland security investigations (HSI) executed criminal search warrants at CVE Technology Group Inc. (CVE), and four of CVE’s staffing companies, ICE said in a statement on April 3.
HSI arrested more than 280 CVE company employees, on grounds of administrative immigration violations, who were unlawfully working in the United States at this telecommunications equipment-repair business.
"This ongoing investigation began after HSI received multiple tips that the company may have knowingly hired illegal aliens, and that many of the individuals employed at CVE were using fraudulent identification documents. In January 2019, HSI began an audit of CVE’s I-9 Forms, which confirmed numerous hiring irregularities," the statement said.

It said all of the immigration status violators arrested on April 3 will be interviewed by ICE staff to record any medical, sole-caregiver or other humanitarian situations. Based on these interviews, ICE will determine if those arrested remain in custody or are considered for humanitarian release. In all cases, all illegal aliens encountered will be fingerprinted and processed for removal from the United States.
ICE informed that a 24-hour toll-free detainee locator hotline is available for family members of those arrested in this operation to address questions about their detention location and status, and the removal process. This hotline operates in English and Spanish; the phone number is 1-888-351-4024.
