Pokimane clarifies living arrangement with Ellum amid Captain Puffy allegations

Internet personality Pokimane has commented on a recent drama concerning her living situation with fellow streamer Josh “Ellum.” The drama began after Captain Puffy, whose real name is Cara, claimed that she was emotionally abused, cheated on, and financially abandoned in a six-page document she penned outlining the relationship she had with Josh “Ellum” from late 2021 until April 2024. Fans linked an incident in February 2025, in which Pokimane announced that she lived with Josh “Ellum” as a roommate.


Through a statement issued on December 27, 2025, Pokimane reiterated that she had rented a room in Ellum's apartment for proximity to friends to steam with them or collaborate in live content. She clarified that she had not been living in the apartment for an extended period because she had her own residential address.

Pokimane clarifies her actions amid Ellum controversy

Pokimane stated that she had learned about Puffy’s experience with Ellum months earlier, after Cara privately shared her concerns in October 2025 following a collaborative TikTok that raised fan warnings. Out of respect and consideration for Puffy, Pokimane said she immediately stopped visiting the apartment and ceased making duo content with Ellum.





“I’ve since spoken to Cara privately and apologized so she knows I took what she said seriously,” Pokimane said. “I’ve also decided to move out as that’s what makes me most comfortable.” She clarified that her involvement in Ellum’s living situation was limited, and that she had been distant from the apartment and duo projects for several months prior to the public backlash.


Ellum responded separately on X, acknowledging the situation, though he did not provide detailed commentary on the allegations. The statement by Pokimane was made to detail transparency and clarify both her timeline and the level of her involvement.


The fact that Pokimane's statement has come out now shows that fans and followers raised concerns after seeing her listed as a roommate of Ellum's, but her statement makes clear the arrangement was casual and temporary, driven by convenience related to streaming collaborations rather than based on any personal or romantic interest.
