"I was so scared": Pokimane's nightmare birthday trip began with a medical emergency doctors rarely see

Twitch star Pokimane’s usual dinner before a long-awaited birthday getaway turned into a scary health scare. The popular streamer told her viewers she had a close call with a serious eye problem after experiencing sudden irritation in one eye just hours before jetting off to Paris.

What started as a small inconvenience quickly turned into a major discomfort, causing the content creator to urgently request medical help. She worried about her health and the possibility of missing the trip she’d been planning for months, thanks to that unexpected event.

Pokimane’s eye emergency surprises medical expert

Pokimane revealed the details during a recent broadcast, which was later uploaded to YouTube titled I Almost Lost my Eye. In retrospect, she said she was caught off guard by the symptoms at first.

“I’ve never had pink eye and I was so scared if it’s something like that, you know what I mean?” she told viewers.


The irritation, Pokimane said, grew worse overnight. Next morning her eye was very red and sore. She feared she was in dire straits and rushed to an emergency optometrist before her flight.

My eye is as red as hell. “I feel like there’s something in there, but I don’t feel anything,” she explained.

The cause of the trouble was found by the specialist after a thorough examination. One of her eyelashes had become trapped in a tear duct in her upper eyelid. The strange place was a constant source of irritation and inflammation that increased.

The response of the medical professional was even more striking. The optometrist, who had close to 10 years of experience, told Pokimane she had never seen a similar case before. The revelation turned an alarming moment into something she could laugh at eventually.

Fortunately, the eyelash was successfully removed and the streamer was able to continue her travel plans without any lasting complications.

Pokimane’s trip to France was even more surprising

The eye problem was fixed, but the rest of Pokimane’s birthday adventure didn’t go 100 percent as planned.


She said she and a group of friends rented a castle for the celebration, and found many problems when they got there. Rumor had it that some of the rooms were off limits due to the messes left by previous guests. The property also experienced internet outages and plumbing issues which was frustrating for the length of stay.

the situation got more complicated when the group decided to leave early. Pokimane said she was offered a small refund and asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement. She didn’t take the deal right away. She negotiated for a better deal and got a larger refund without having to agree to silence.

Despite the series of setbacks, Pokimane still had reasons to celebrate. The streamer celebrated her 30th birthday with friends, and later shared highlights from the trip online, proving that even a bizarre medical scare and travel woes were not enough to ruin the milestone celebration.
