“Filthy neocons”: Candace Owens shares alleged Charlie Kirk text blasting Meghan McCain as Ben Shapiro feud explodes online

Candace Owens has stepped into a fresh public fight with Meghan McCain and Ben Shapiro, and the argument quickly spread across social media. The conservative podcaster posted screenshots of what she said were text messages from Charlie Kirk, the late co-founder of Turning Point USA. One of the messages showed Kirk speaking harshly about television personality Meghan McCain. The dispute began after Meghan McCain criticized people who were sharing private messages from Charlie Kirk after his death. In a post on X, she wrote, “Stop sharing dead people’s text messages. You absolute psychopaths.”

Soon after that post, Candace Owens responded. She shared an alleged message from Charlie Kirk and used it to push back against both Meghan McCain and Ben Shapiro. The exchange quickly pulled several conservative media figures into the same online fight. Charlie Kirk, who founded Turning Point USA, died in September 2025 after being attacked while attending an event at Utah Valley University. Since then, several debates about his legacy and relationships have appeared online.

Candace Owens posted what she said was a message from Charlie Kirk about Meghan McCain. The screenshot showed a blunt statement that appeared to insult her.

“Meghan McCain is a piece of s***,” the message read.

While sharing the screenshot, Candace Owens added a flame emoji. She then wrote another message directly aimed at Meghan McCain and others in conservative media.

“Pretending Charlie was friends with Ben Shapiro and filthy neocons like you simply won’t be happening on my watch.”

The tension between Candace Owens and Ben Shapiro had already been building. On March 13, Owens posted another message explaining why she was angry about remarks made by Shapiro after Charlie Kirk’s death.

“When I heard Ben of all people say ‘I will pick up Charlie’s bloody mic’ it physically sickened me,” she wrote on X. “I cannot comprehend the shamelessness of paying 1 million dollars to try to purchase someone’s legacy who you treated like absolute s*** when he was alive.”

Candace Owens also claimed that she had stayed in touch with Charlie Kirk during past disagreements involving Shapiro.

“Charlie and I stayed in constant communication over this issue. On the phone and via text. Our friendship never ended,” she wrote.

She continued by claiming that Charlie Kirk faced pressure behind the scenes during that time.

“Ben was directing donors to begin to squeeze him with financial and reputational threats after DW fired me. This is how Ben operates behind the scenes.”

In another post, Owens also addressed rumors about Erika Kirk, the wife of Charlie Kirk and the current chief executive of Turning Point USA.

She said a circulating audio clip was not real.

“The audio going around is not Erika Kirk. It was sent to me many times over the last month and my team was able to debunk it which is why we did not include it in our series,” Candace Owens wrote on X.
