Elon Musk breaks silence with two words after Somali TikToker clip sparks heated discussion
Elon Musk reacted with just two words after a video of a Somali TikToker began spreading online and raised concern among viewers. The clip showed a woman speaking mostly in another language, while adding short lines in English. At one point, she appeared to talk about Musk’s safety. Many users took the moment as a possible threat.
The video surfaced after Musk shared and boosted claims made by YouTuber Nick Shirley about alleged daycare fraud involving federally funded centers in Minnesota. On January 1, 2026, the X account @cb_doge posted the TikTok clip. In the video, the woman held a tablet that showed a news video about Musk and said in English, “I wouldn’t worry too much about him. He about to die.”
The full meaning of her words was not clear. Still, the clip spread fast. Musk responded on X with a short message, writing, “Wonderful people.” Later, he reposted the video and added another line that became his pinned post, writing, “Then it is war.”
The reaction came as Elon Musk continued sharing claims from YouTuber Nick Shirley. On December 26, 2025, Shirley uploaded a 43-minute video accusing Somali-owned daycare centers in Minnesota of misusing federal funds. Shirley claimed the centers were not caring for children and were part of large-scale fraud. He said the total amount could be more than $110 million.
The video went viral. As of publication, it had over 2.9 million views on YouTube and 131 million views on X. Several public figures shared the video, including U.S. Vice President JD Vance and FBI Director Kash Patel.
According to NPR, JD Vance reposted the video and wrote that Shirley did “far more useful journalism than any of the winners of the 2024 Pulitzer prizes.” Kash Patel posted that the FBI had already started looking into “large-scale fraud schemes exploiting federal programs in Minnesota.”
Musk also shared posts calling out Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. In one post, Musk wrote, “Traitor Tim, time to answer for your crimes.”
After the video spread, Nick Shirley appeared on InfoWars with Alex Jones. During the interview, Shirley thanked Musk for X, saying, “What he did by leveling out the playing field and giving us a platform where we can speak freely, he’s not only helped save the United States, he’s helping save the United Kingdom.”
He added, “X is the number one news source for most countries in the world now because people are able to get that news straight from their phone.”
In a related move, reports say the Trump administration is now freezing child care funds to Minnesota while officials review the fraud claims.
