“Charlie Kirk streaming from hell?”: Internet shocked after YouTube names late TPUSA founder a top creator for 2025
YouTube surprised many people this week after it shared its list of top content creators for 2025. The list was posted on X by the account @FearedBuck on Wednesday, December 3. Big creators like MrBeast, who ranked first, and Outdoor Boys, who came in at number 10, made sense to most viewers.
But one name stopped people mid-scroll. Charlie Kirk was placed at number six. That shocked users because Charlie Kirk was killed earlier this year. Right away, the internet started asking questions, and confusion spread fast.
Many users went straight to the comments. One person wrote, “Charlie Kirk is streaming from hell?” Another simply asked, “Charlie?” A third user said, “no not Charlie.” Someone else added, “What’s Charlie Kirk doing there?” While most reactions showed disbelief, one user disagreed and commented, “Number 6 is valid.” The mix of jokes, shock, and debate made the post go viral within hours.
For those who may not know, Charlie Kirk was a conservative activist and the founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA). On September 10, 2025, he was shot during a public Q&A session at Utah Valley University. The event was part of TPUSA’s American Comeback Tour.
Witnesses said Charlie Kirk had just answered a question about gun violence seconds before he was shot in the neck. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors could not save him. He died later the same day at the age of 32.
After his death, TPUSA announced that his wife, Erika Kirk, would take over as the company’s CEO. Police later arrested Tyler Robinson, who was named the main suspect. He was taken into custody two days after the shooting, and the murder trial is still ongoing.
Even after his death, interest in Charlie Kirk did not slow down. In fact, it grew. According to The Guardian, Charlie Kirk topped Wikipedia’s most-read articles list for 2025, with nearly 45 million views. Most of those views came in the weeks after his death.
The second-most-read page was Wikipedia’s “Notable deaths of 2025”, with 42.5 million views. Other highly read pages included Ozzy Osbourne, Pope Francis, Donald Trump, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Because so many people searched his name, watched old videos, and shared clips, many believe YouTube’s system counted that attention. That may explain why Charlie Kirk appeared on the list, even though he is no longer alive.
