Candace Owens draws concern after report highlights surge in anti-Israel rhetoric
Candace Owens has become a focal point in a growing debate over how influential conservative voices are reshaping political conversations around Israel. Over the past year, her rhetoric has drawn increasing scrutiny, not just from critics on the left but also from Jewish groups and analysts who once viewed parts of the conservative movement as reliable allies. Candace Owens now sits at the center of a conversation that blends politics, media power, and concerns about rising antisemitism.
The shift has not gone unnoticed. A new study from the Jewish People Policy Institute highlights how Owens’ commentary has intensified in both volume and tone throughout 2025. While she has long been outspoken, researchers say the past year marked a clear escalation that has raised alarms across ideological lines. The findings arrive at a moment when right wing media influence is under a sharper microscope than ever before.
The Jerusalem based think tank analyzed roughly 3,000 YouTube videos and tracked how Owens spoke about Israel and Jewish topics. According to the study, nearly all of her early 2025 mentions of Israel were already negative. What changed was frequency. As the year progressed, Owens referenced Israel and Jews far more often, and with sharper language.
Shuki Friedman, director general of JPPI, described the findings as a warning sign. “Antisemitism on the American far right is now overt and out in the open,” Friedman said.
“The data should serve as a flashing warning light for Israel and its leadership regarding the kind of support it can expect from the right, today and in the future. Only a determined effort to counter this extremism can help preserve this vital base of support in the United States.”
The study also flagged the nature of Owens’ framing. “Across multiple videos, [Carlson and Owens] employ sharp rhetoric, including comparisons between Israel and Hamas, use of the term ‘genocide,’ accusations of deliberately killing children, and the circulation of conspiracy narratives alleging Israeli influence over the United States,” the report stated.
Unlike some peers, Owens was found to cross a clearer line. Over the final six months of the year, three quarters of her videos that referenced Jews were classified as antisemitic by the study’s analysis.
For supporters, Owens frames her stance as political critique. For critics, the concern is deeper. As her platform grows, so does the impact of her words, placing Candace Owens at the heart of a debate that shows no sign of fading.
