UK trade delegation to visit India from Saturday
A UK trade delegation will visit India from Saturday to attract Indian investments into the country and explore business opportunities.
LONDON: A UK trade delegation will visit India from Saturday to attract Indian investments into the country and explore business opportunities.
The group led by Lord Hanningfield, leader of the Essex County Council, would visit Mumbai and Pune as a part of the ongoing exchange of trade and investment delegations between India and Britain.
The members of the delegation would include staff from the Essex Development and Regeneration Agency and UK Trade and Investment department, which helps British companies to internationalise their operations.
Speaking to reporters before leaving for India, Lord Hanningfield said that he would encourage Indian companies to invest in the Thames Gateway project.
Hanningfield also highlighted the strength of Indian business links in the Essex county citing the example of the multi-million pound Waymade drug company in Basildon, owned by Indian-origin entrepreneurs Vijay and Bhikhu Patel.
The brothers had set up the company specialising in manufacturing generic drugs in 1975 after moving to Britain from Kenya.

The Thames Gateway stretches 60 km eastwards from London on both sides of the River Thames and the Thames Estuary.
