LONDON: Ten suspects have been arrested by counter-terrorism unit in a series of raids across the North West England, police said on Wednesday.
Officers from a North West Counter-Terrorism Unit supported by Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Lancashire Constabulary police carried out a series of raids in the past hour in Liverpool John Moores University and a guest house at Clitheroe in Lancashire.
A number of addresses across the North West are being searched by the officers.
"We are currently not in a position to confirm these addresses or any other further information regarding this operation" spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.
"Further details will be released as they become available," she added.
