Son of UK PIO wife who murdered her husband says he cannot wait to see her executed in India

LONDON: The son of a British PIO woman on death row in India for murdering her husband has told a British newspaper he cannot wait to see his mother hanged.

Arjun Singh (17) is one of two sons of Ramandeep Kaur Mann (38), from Derby, who was found guilty in October by the district court of Shahjahanpur, UP, of murdering her husband Sukhjeet Singh (34) by lacing his chicken biryani dinner with sedatives and cutting his throat.

Arjun told MailOnline that he has no regrets about testifying against his mother and that she deserves to be hanged as “she did such an evil thing”.

Mann is currently in Shahjahanpur district jail where she is appealing the death sentence.

Arjun travelled from the UK to give evidence at the trial in India where he said he saw Mann smother his father with a pillow before her lover, Gurpreet Singh, hit him over the head with a hammer, and then his mother slit his throat with a knife.

Judge Pankaj Kumar Srivastava handed down the death penalty to the wife and life imprisonment to Gurpreet, who confessed to the crime.

Mann intended to poison the entire family before killing her husband. But Arjun, aged nine at the time, did not eat the biryani she had prepared and witnessed the murder from his bed.

Speaking to MailOnline, Arjun said he would like to be there “when her death happens”. “It doesn’t fill me with fear; in fact, it would give me a lot of satisfaction and relief and I look forward to that day. I would like all my family to be there with me. I would like to see with my own eyes that justice for my father has been served. I’m proud of what I’ve done because I’ve got justice for my father. My brother and I don’t think of this woman as my mother anymore, she’s evil.” He said they want “nothing to do with her” and she stopped being a mother to them the moment she murdered their father.

The boys now live with their paternal uncle and aunt in the Midlands.
