LONDON: French president Nicolas Sarkozy has picked a glamourous TV presenter to replace sacked justice minister Rachida Dati.
The 39-year-old hot Christine Kelly has been handpicked by the flamboyant president as the new face of ethnic diversity in France, two months after 43-year-old Dati, a single mother, was removed from office.
Kelly is expected to become minister for overseas territories in French government in Sarkozys next reshuffle, an especially important role as many of the islands involved are currently suffering severe economic hardship and social unrest, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Sarkozy is hugely impressed that she is not only attractive, but in touch with the modern world. He is aware that Rachidas imminent disappearance will create a gaping hole, and is certain Christine will be the person to fill it, the British daily quoted an unnamed source in Frances governing party as saying.
Working as a presenter on the French news channel LCI, Kelly is as well-known for appearing in bikinis as suits.
