LONDON: A week after Susan Boyle became a global sensation following her audition on Britains Got Talent, a 12-year-old boy has been hailed for his life-changing performance on the TV show after earning a standing ovation from Simon Cowell who isone of the judges.
Shaheen Jafargholi, 12, almost did not make it when he sang a version of Amy Winehouses song Valerie, and was asked by Cowell to sing something else.
He shocked the audience with his rendition of Whos Loving You, written by Smokey Robinson and performed by a young Michael Jackson with the Jackson Five. He received a standing ovation from the crowd and judges, with Cowell saying that he is the best pop singer he has seen in ten years.
Writing in his blog, Piers Morgan said Jafargholi had been the stand-out act and tipped him as a possible challenger to Boyle for the shows 100,000 prize. Once Simon got him to sing the right kind of song for his voice, he was sensational. Like a young Stevie Wonder. Morgan said.
I would love to be a big recording artist. I would love to be as famous as Michael Jackson, Jafargholi told the Daily Mail.
