Protests Dhaka's internal matter: Delhi
Describing the Bangladesh protests as an internal matter of the neighbouring country, Indian govt said Friday it's in touch with local authorities to ensure the safety and security of around 15,000 Indian nationals, including 8,500 students, who are there.
The Indian high commission in Dhaka started facilitating the return of Indians with the help of BSF and Bureau of Immigration. Sources said 245 Indians, including 125 students, returned to India through the immigration centre at Gede in West Bengal on Friday. Thirteen Nepal students too left the country through the same route with help from the Indian authorities. "Border crossings between India and Bangladesh, Benapole-Petrapole, Gede- Darshana and Akhaura- Agartala, will remain open for students and Indian nationals to arrive in India," said an official.
The commission issued an advisory Thursday asking all Indian community members in Bangladesh to avoid travel and minimise their movement outside their living premises.
