Getting into bed with China may have proved to be Sri Lanka’s undoing. Now, we have a chance to lend a helping hand

What did the sight of irate citizens storming the presidential palace in Colombo, lolling around on runaway Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s gigantic four-poster bed on which several privileged derrieres have rested, cavorting in underwear inside the azure private pool, relaxing on stuffed sofa sets, and raiding personal wardrobes of the first family make you feel?

Be honest! Were you enraged? Amused? Or enthused by this demonstration of people power which managed to terminate the rule of ‘Terminator’, a nickname that stuck to Gotabaya because of the way he ruthlessly crushed Tamil rebels?
