Around 70 dead, several injured

Around 70 people lost their lives as massive earthquake jolts Nepal on November 3, as per reports. Several have been injured as rescuers searched mountain villages. (Agencies)

Epicenter at Jajarkot, magnitude 6.4

The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.4 on Richter scale and its epicenter was Jajarkot district in western Nepal, according to Nepal’s National Earthquake Monitoring & Research Center. (IANS)

Toll expected to rise: Officials

Nepal's officials stated that death toll is expected to increase and informed that communication in several locations has been cut off. (ANI)

Rukum and Jajarkot worst hit places

According to initial reports, 28 people are reported dead in Rukum district and 26 in Jajarkot till now, as multiple houses and buidlings collapsed. (ANI)

Rescue operation underway

Injured have been taken to hospitals and rescue operation is carried out by the officials. Nepal's PM said that ​he has mobilised three security agencies "for the immediate rescue and relief of the injured." (AFP)

Nepal lies on a major geological faultline and earthquakes are a regular occurrence. A 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2015 killed some 9,000 people and damaged about 1 million structures. (AFP)
