Bangladesh protesters attack Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Bangabandhu Memorial Museum

NEW DELHI: On Monday afternoon, protesters set fire to several prominent locations in Dhaka, including Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, and Bangabandhu Bhaban, also known as the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, according to an eye-witness.

The Bangabandhu Memorial Museum was dedicated to former president and Sheikh Hasina's father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was assassinated in 1975 while serving as president.

IGCC, a cultural linkage between India and Bangladesh
The Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, inaugurated in March 2010, aims to enhance cultural ties between India and Bangladesh. The centre hosts a range of cultural programs and seminars, and collaborates with India-based experts in Hindi, Yoga, Indian dance, and classical vocal music. It also involves top professionals from Bangladesh who have trained under Indian Gurus or in Indian universities.

The Centre's library has over 21,000 books related to Indian politics, economics, art, culture, and fiction.
