Watch: Italy's Meloni caught rolling eyes as Macron whispers in her ear at G7; moment goes viral

A video of an interaction between Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and French President Emmanuel Macron at the G7 Summit has gone viral on social media, as the annual summit of the world's leading economies kicked off in Canada's Kananaskis.

The clip showed Macron whispering something to Meloni, who was seated to the right of the French leader and leaned over to hear what he was saying.



The latter rolled her eyes over what was said, and the moment instantly went viral on social media, with many left wondering what Macron told Meloni.
"Whatever Macron said had Meloni looking like, 'What the hell is this guy on?' wrote one social media user.

"What did Macron tell Meloni? Wrong answers only," a second user wrote.



Indian-American political commentator Dinesh D'souza also reacted to the exchange, commenting that Italy's first female prime minister has "unconcealed disdain" for the current French president.


Last year too, the two European leaders had another awkward interaction, with the video of that exchange also going viral on the internet. It showed Macron shaking Meloni's hand and kissing it, leaving her "furious."


This came days after they clashed over the inclusion of specific language on abortion rights in the final statement of the June 2024 G7 Summit, hosted by Italy.
