Singapore reports 295 new Covid-19 cases
SINGAPORE:
Among the new new cases, two patients live in the community areas and seven are imported infections. The rest of the cases are foreign workers living in packed dormitories which have emerged as major virus hot-spots.
In the two community cases, one patient is a Singapore citizen and the other is a work pass holder (foreigner),
All the seven imported cases were placed on stay-home notice upon their arrival in Singapore.
Among the nine imported cases reported on Monday, one is a permanent resident, while three others are here on the passes of their 'dependants'. They landed from India between July 20 and 22.
The other five are employed in Singapore on work passes and permits. They had returned from India, Japan and the Philippines on July 22, the ministry had said on Monday night.
All of them had been placed on 14-day stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore. They tested positive while serving their notice at dedicated facilities.
There are currently 114 confirmed cases in hospitals, and one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Over 5,700 patients are isolated and cared for at community facilities for mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still tested positive for Covid-19.
In all, 47,179 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities, including 253 discharged on Monday. The island nation's Covid-19 death toll stands at 27.
