Seoul goes Gandhi way on North's test

NEW DELHI: Even as North Korea an nounced the success of its fifth and largest nuclear test, a different kind of movement is shaping up in South Korea.

A Gandhiji-inspired peace initiative backed by the UN, started by Korean war veteran Han Hee Lee -called the Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) -is partnering with youth and women, via the International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) and International Peace

Youth Group

(IPYG), to bring about cessation of war and work out interfaith harmony among followers of all religions.

Two legal experts from India along with other international experts are involved in this effort: Narinder Singh, chairman,

UN International Law Commission

and Pravin Parekh, president, Confederation of Indian Bar.

The HWPL-initiated second Annual Commemoration of World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit that is to take place during September 17-20, 2016 in

Seoul

, will have political and religious leaders and women and youth leaders from around the world.

Participants will discuss the role of the legal system to resolve religious conflicts and the current role of the United Nations International Court of Justice in resolving armed conflict.
