Nepalese PM holds talks with foreign envoys
KATHMANDU: Nepalese Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has intensified consultations with foreign diplomats in an effort to find a way out of the current political stalemate in the country, where the crucial Constituent Assembly polls have been postponed indefinitely.
The Prime Minister held talks with British Ambassador Andrew Hall and Chinese envoy Zheng Xianglin on Friday, according to sources from Koirala-led Nepali Congress party.

As the Maoists continue to demand immediate declaration of the country a republic and fully proportional electoral system ahead of holding of the Constituent Assembly polls, Koirala has been holding hectic parleys with both internal and external players.
The Prime Minister has held consultations with the foreign diplomats in order to understand the views of the international community, the Nepali Congress sources said.
During the meetings, mainly the ongoing peace process and fresh date for the Constituent Assembly elections - which were earlier scheduled for November 22 - were discussed.
Earlier on Thursday, Koirala met US Ambassador J Powell and German envoy Franz Ring.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress Vice President Gopalman Shrestha said the party would vote against Maoists' proposal tabled in Parliament for declaration of the country a republic and adoption of fully proportional electoral system as well as that of CPN-UML for the amendment of Constitution.
