An Israeli youth returning from India with 1.7 kg of hashish has been arrested at the Ben-Gurion airport here, police said.
JERUSALEM: An Israeli youth returning from India with 1.7 kg of hashish has been arrested at the Ben-Gurion airport, police said.
The 28-year-old, Alon Ganani, resident of Ramat Hasharon was arrested last Friday at the airport and investigations have raised suspicions that he may be part of a large-scale smuggling racket.
Israel has stepped up its fight against drug abuse with the Anti-Drug Authority (ADA) launching a national action plan this week to "free Israel from drugs".
The ADA has suggested several measures to curb the menace and called for more regional and international co-operation in solving the problem.
