Equatorial Guinea enforces strict rules to halt office sex scandal after 400 viral videos

Equatorial Guinea's government has implemented strict regulations to prevent intimate activities on official premises following the widespread circulation of explicit videos allegedly featuring a senior finance ministry official. The administration announced on Tuesday that these viral social media videos have damaged the nation's reputation internationally.

The controversy erupted last week, causing significant disturbance in the Central African country, which has been governed by President Teodoro Obiang for more than 40 years.

The videos, reportedly discovered during an anti-corruption probe at the official's residence, purportedly showed intimate encounters with several women, including spouses and family members of other senior government officials.

In response, Vice President Nguema Obiang Mangue announced enhanced security protocols for government facilities. The new measures include surveillance camera installation throughout office premises and intensified security protocols.

An official statement confirmed these actions were implemented to prevent inappropriate conduct by the judiciary and ministerial staff at work.

These regulations were established following urgent consultations with the Supreme Court, attorney general and other government officials.

The administration has announced suspensions for individuals identified in the footage, though specific names remain undisclosed. Additionally, security personnel tasked with protecting these facilities face disciplinary proceedings for failing to prevent these incidents.
