Brazil President fires intel agency no. 2 over alleged spying

NEW DELHI: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has taken action in response to an ongoing investigation into alleged illegal espionage during the presidency of Jair Bolsonaro. According to an official bulletin, President Lula da Silva has ordered the dismissal of the deputy director of Brazil's national intelligence agency, reported AFP.

The country's federal police are currently conducting an inquiry into claims of politically motivated and illegal spying that occurred between 2019 and 2022 under the far-right leadership of Bolsonaro. The investigation specifically involves Bolsonaro's son.
