Brad must have been mad to walk out on aniston, says actor
He had so many affairs during his first marriage that he had to be treated for sex addiction. But more than five years of wedded bliss appear to have settled Michael Douglas down so much that he now feels able to comment on the more fleeting unions of some of his fellow Hollywood stars. In an opinionated interview, the 61-year-old criticises Brad Pitt for leaving Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie.
And he attacks Renee Zellweger over her four-month marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney and Julia Roberts for splitting from Lyle Lovett after 21 months.
"I don't know about Brad Pitt leaving that beautiful woman to go hold orphans for Angelina Jolie," he says. "I mean, how long is that going to last?" Referring to his own marriage, to Catherine Zeta- Jones, he adds: "You learn to respect something of value and nurture it and treat it well. "I mean, don't ask me what happened with Renee Zellweger and her ex-husband Kenny Chesney. I don't know how you get married for four months.
Douglas, who is 25 years his wife's senior, tells American GQ they manage to keep their marriage alive even when they are apart by making sure they talk to each other at least four times a day. His relationship with Zeta-Jones is in stark contrast to that with his first wife, Diandra, who was 13 years his junior. The marriage began to disintegrate because of his womanising. In an attempt to save the relationship, Douglas checked into the Sierra Tucson clinic in Arizona. His announcement to the therapy group "My name's Michael and I'm a sex addict" became public, much to the actor's embarrassment. Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston has revealed how she hates people feeling sorry for her because of the end of her marriage. Daily Mail, London
