17 students killed, 14 injured in Kenya school fire

A fire broke out in a school in central Kenya, claiming the lives of 17 students. The students were burnt beyond recognition, according to reports from Citizen Television on Friday.

The fire at the Nyeri's Hillside Endarasha Academy also left 14 students injured. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, and authorities are investigating the incident.

"We have lost 17 pupils in the fire incident while 14 are injured. Our team is at the scene at the scene at the moment," a police spokeswoman Resila Onyango was quoted as saying by news agency Reuters.
