The parliament of Pakistan adopts resolution against ‘Indian aggression’

ISLAMABAD: The parliament of Pakistan on Friday has unanimously adopted a resolution urging Indian Parliament to hold a joint session for de-escalation and dialogue between the two neighbours.


The resolution was tabled by foreign minister

at the joint session of parliament which was convened in the wake of tension between India and Pakistan.

The resolution passed by National Assembly and Senate termed as “blatant Indian aggression” the pre-dawn aerial strikes at Jaish-e-Muhammad’s terror facility in

Balakot

on February 26 and the dogfight between the military jets of the two countries along the LoC on February 27. It said these were “completely in violation of the UN charter,

international law

and inter-state laws”.

“The Parliament completely rejects India’s self-serving and fictitious claims of having destroyed alleged terrorist camps and caused heavy casualties. The facts on the ground clearly contradict India’s false claims and have been testified by independent observers,” it said.

The resolution condemned India’s position in the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack, saying that India’s statements were politically motivated.

Emphasising that entire Pakistan stands united behind its armed forces, the resolution said: “The parliament reaffirms Pakistan’s resolve to respond effectively in a befitting manner to India’s aggression as illustrated by the Pakistan Air Force on February 27.”
