Nomination papers of Pakistan joint opposition candidate Shehbaz Sharif and PTI's Shah Mahmood Qureshi have been approved for the Prime Minister's election slated to take place on Monday.Earlier, Former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif submitted the nomination papers for the top seat. The nomination papers have been approved for the PM's election.

Hamza Shehbaz, son of PML-N president and joint Opposition's prime ministerial candidate Shehbaz Sharif, is scheduled to appear before a special court in a high-profile money laundering case on Monday.The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) special court on April 4 summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz, his son Hamza and others for indictment in money-laundering and sugar scam on April 11.Shehbaz's counsel advocate Amjad Pervez told PTI on Sunday that his client would file an exemption from personal appearance in the FIA special court on Monday in the money laundering proceedings."Mr Sharif is in Islamabad to contest the prime minister election on Monday. Therefore, the court will be requested to defer the indictment," he said.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQMP) senior leader Syed Faisal Subzwari early on Sunday said in a tweet that Shehbaz Sharif should form a commission to probe the alleged threat letter. He said in a tweet, “Shehbaz Sharif must form an Independent & Highest Possible Commission to inquire #LetterGate. Commission must investigate, ascertain Conspiracy (IF ANY) & recommend strongest Punishments for culprits of Conspiracy/ Defrauding the Nation. Let’s all work for a better Pakistan.”

Refuting the news of the resignation of Pakistan's Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, the National Assembly Secretariat on Sunday clarified that Suri did not resign from his office, reported local media adding that he will chair the crucial National Assembly on Monday for the election of the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Senior PTI leader and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry has announced that his party would resign en masse from the National Assembly tomorrow (Monday). The decision to resign, he said, was tied with the acceptance of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif's nomination papers for prime minister's elections, to which the PTI had raised objections. In a later development, the NA Secretariat rejected the objections and accepted Shehbaz's nomination.Talking to the media in Islamabad with a host of other PTI leaders and officials, Chaudhry said a meeting of the PTI's central core executive committee (CEC) was held in Bani Gala with Imran Khan where "the whole situation was analysed".

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear on Monday (tomorrow) an application requesting for placing the names of the former prime minister Imran Khan and ex-ministers on the Exit Control List (ECL) and ordering an investigation into an alleged threat letter. The application was filed by Maulvi Iqbal Haider. The applicant requested the IHC to place the names of Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, former deputy speaker Qasim Suri and Asad Majeed on the ECL.He also requested from the court to issue an order for an inquiry against the former prime minister and the ministers regarding the alleged threat letter.

A top officer of Pakistan's top investigative agency who was probing the PKR 14 billion money laundering charges against the joint Opposition's prime ministerial candidate Shehbaz Sharif has gone on leave for indefinite period after Imran Khan was voted out in a no-confidence motion.Federal Investigation Agency's Lahore chief Mohammad Rizwan's application to go on leave with effect from April 11, 2022, onward, has been accepted, according to an official notification on Sunday.Rizwan's decision came a day before Shehbaz and his son Hamza are to appear before a special court for indictment on Monday.The special court (Central-I) of FIA on April 4 had summoned Shehbaz and Hamza on Monday (April 11) to indict the father and son duo in the Rs 14 billion money laundering case.
