ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (HC) on Monday dismissed a petition that had been filed against Pakistan’s national cricket team after it lost a match to the Indian team in the ongoing World Cup championship.
The petition filed in Islamabad against the abysmal performance and selection of the Pakistan cricket team, demanded setting up of a fact-finding commission over reports of groups being formed in the current World Cup squad and an inquiry against those responsible.
It also said that the court should look into the team selection procedure.
The petition was heard by Islamabad HC’s Justice Athar Minallah and the petitioner’s lawyer stressed that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the selection committee had failed, requesting the court to allow proceedings against the respondents.
However, Justice Minallah, referring to Pakistan’s win over South Africa on Sunday, dismissed the petition.
