DUBAI: A ship set ablaze by a series of attacks in Red Sea began taking on water Sunday night as its crew prepared to abandon the vessel, the first serious assault in the key trade corridor after a monthslong campaign by Houthis there.
Suspicion fell on the Houthi rebels, particularly as a security firm said it appeared bomb-carrying drone boats hit the ship after it was targetted by small arms and rocket-propelled grenades. UK Maritime Trade Operations centre first said an armed security team on the vessel had returned fire against an initial attack. It later said the ship was on fire.
