The mother of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has described her son as a “good kid” who was “brainwashed” by fundamentalists. Alia Ghanem opened up for the first time in public about the dead terror chief who masterminded the 9/11 attacks.
Speaking from her home in Saudi Arabia, where the Bin Laden clan remains one of the country’s most influential families, she said that it never crossed her mind that he would become a jihadist. When she learned what her son had become, she said she was “extremely upset”.
