The Israeli military announced on Saturday an Israeli soldier was killed and three were severely injured during combat in northern Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) identified the soldier as Warrant Officer Ghaleb Sliman Al-Nasasra.
"Warrant Officer G'haleb Sliman Alnasasra, aged 35 from the Bedouin community in Rahat, a tracker in the Northern Brigade, Gaza Division, fell during combat in northern Gaza. The IDF expresses its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May his memory be a blessing," lieutenant colonel Nadav Shoshani, IDF's international spokesperson, wrote on X.
Al-Nasasra is Israel's first fatality since a ceasefire with Hamas collapsed in mid-March.
Shoshani further said during the incident in which Al-Nasasra died, another tracker in the Northern Brigade was severely injured.
Two other soldiers who were severely injured are from IDF's Border Protection Corps, he added.
At least 412 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the Gaza offensive since the military launched a ground assault on the Palestinian territory on October 27, 2023.
The war in Gaza broke out after Hamas's unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
