18 family members dead
An Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed at least 18 people of the same family on Saturday. The airstrike targeted a house and adjacent warehouse sheltering displaced people at the entrance to the town of Zawaida.
Victims included 11 children
The victims included Sami Jawad al-Ejlah, his two wives, 11 of their children aged 2 to 22, the children's grandmother, and three other relatives.
'Struck terrorist infrastructure'
However, the Israeli army said that they struck "terrorist infrastructure" in central Gaza, where rockets had been fired toward Israel in recent weeks.
Razed 50 tunnels
Israeli combat engineers have destroyed approximately 50 Hamas tunnel routes in the area of the Egypt-Gaza border during the past month, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The tunnels were all in the Philadelphi corridor, a buffer zone that runs the length of the 14-km Gaza-Egypt border.
'Constructive progress'
The US, Qatar and Egypt, in a joint statement said that the Gaza ceasefire talks held in Doha this week had made "constructive" progress.
They further said that they would continue their efforts to negotiate the details of the deal's implementation.
Blinken to visit Israel
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Israel on Sunday as the US push to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza that will end the 10-month-old war between Israel and Hamas, which killed nearly 40,000.
Israel obstructing ceasefire efforts: Hamas
Meanwhile, a senior Hamas official has accused Israel of obstructing all efforts to finalise a Gaza ceasefire agreement.
"The Israeli occupation continues to obstruct all efforts to complete any ceasefire agreement," Sami Abu Zuhri said in a press statement on Saturday.
