DUBAI: Former Pakistan Prime MinisterBenazir Bhutto has said she will "work sincerely" to resolve the Kashmir issueif voted to power but will not allow it to stand in the way of expanding tradeties with India. "I will work sincerely towards resolving theKashmir issue but will not let that stand in the way of proceeding on othermatters like South Asian free market, trade, tourism and travel," she said onWednesday following a press conference here on the eve of her departure toPakistan. The chairperson of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), whofled from Pakistan in 1998 fearing arrest in corruption cases, said Islamabadwill strive to have "peace on our borders and friendship with our neighbouringcountries", the Gulf News reported on Thursday. Pakistan's apexcourt is hearing a petition against the National Reconciliation Ordinancepromulgated by President Pervez Musharraf that granted amnesty to Bhutto ingraft cases, paving the way for her to retun home ahead of the general electionsdue in January. The paper quoted Bhutto as saying that the chancesof her arrest were "remote as there are no cases against me, the lower courtshave dismissed all charges including the absentee case." "I cannotbe arrested. Whoever is saying this is either ill-informed or deliberatelycreating confusion," Bhutto said.
