No criminal angle: Russian embassy says quoting police

NEW DELHI: While the death of Russian tycoon and Vladimir assembly member Pavel Antov raised eyebrows across the world, the Russian embassy here quoted the local police to say there was no foul play suspected. Indian government sources too said, as of now, it seemed purely a consular issue.

This is also not the first time a Russian tycoon fell out of a window since the launch of Russia’s military action in Ukraine. The chairman of Russia’s second largest oil company Lukoil, Ravil Maganov, fell from a hospital window in Moscow in September and died. Lukoil too had called for an immediate end to the war.

Novatek former manager Sergei Protosenya, was found dead with his wife and daughter at a Spanish villa in April, and former vice-president of Gazprombank Vladislav Avayev was found dead with his wife and daughter in their Moscow flat in April. A former Lukoil tycoon Alexander Subbotin died of heart failure, reportedly after seeking alternative treatment from a shaman, according to a BBC report.

“...According to information available to the police, no criminal aspect is seen,” said the embassy.
