The muffin first gained widespread recognition after Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen posted a TikTok review that went viral, garnering more than 10 million views. Christiansen, affectionately dubbed the "Olympic Village Muffin Man," sparked a social media frenzy with his enthusiastic endorsement.

Following Christiansen’s review, other Olympians weighed in with their own takes on the muffin. American swimmer Erin Gemmell also praised the treat, stating, “I had one. It was pretty good, I will say,” and noted, “So whatever they have in the middle could, like, change lives.”

The buzz around the Olympics muffin intensified when a food influencer on Instagram, @jordan_the_stallion8, uncovered the recipe after 'three days and four phone calls.' His revelation has only added to the muffin’s fame.

The recipe
The viral muffin’s recipe, as shared by Jordan, includes several key ingredients. For the muffin, you'll need ¾ cup of milk, ¼ cup of water, 2 teaspoons of instant coffee, ½ cup of cocoa powder, ½ cup of chocolate chunks, 1 stick of butter, 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, ¼ teaspoon of salt, ½ cup of packed brown sugar, ½ cup of granulated sugar, ¼ cup of vegetable oil, 2 room-temperature eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and ⅓ cup of chocolate chunks for topping.

For the filling, gather ½ cup of heavy cream, ¼ cup of chocolate chunks, and a pinch of salt.

To bake, preheat your oven to 375°F and prepare a muffin tin by greasing or lining it. In a saucepan, combine the milk, water, and coffee, and bring to a simmer. Stir in the cocoa powder, then add the chocolate chunks and butter until melted and smooth. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool.

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. To the cooled chocolate mixture, add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, stirring well. Gently fold in the flour mixture in stages, then fold in the chocolate chunks. Pour the batter into the prepared muffin tin and sprinkle with additional chocolate chunks. Bake for 24 minutes.

For the filling, heat the heavy cream, chocolate chunks, and a pinch of salt in a saucepan until melted and smooth. Once the muffins have cooled, scoop out the centers and fill them with the chocolate mixture.
