* The Winter Session, which began on November 16, is scheduled to conclude on Friday, with indications that it could be a virtual washout.<br /> <br /> * Parliament has seen little transaction of any substantial business because of the Opposition ruckus over demonetisation and some other issues.<br /> <br /> * Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha continued to be deadlocked over the way a debate should take place on demonetisation announced by the Prime Minister on November 8.<br /> <br /> * Ever since the session began, the Lok Sabha has managed to conduct only two legislative actions &mdash; passage of Income Tax amendment bill and approval of Supplementary Demand for Grants &mdash; that too amid din and without much debate.<br /> <br /> * The Rajya Sabha has functioned normally only on the first day of the session when the debate on demonetisation was initiated and held for about 5 hours.

Union minister for information and broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu accused the opposition parties on Tuesday of &ldquo;changing the goal posts&ldquo; to disrupt proceedings in Parliament, while asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present in the House during the remaining three days of the winter session.

With just three work days left for the almost-washed out Winter Session to wind up on December 16, the fifteen Opposition parties are preparing to revive their joint attack on the government over demonetisation, to build up the momentum to take the issue out on to the streets, as soon as the session ends.

The Parliament deadlock over demonetisation continued on Friday but this time, it was the ruling party members who initiated disruptions in Lok Sabha while demanding an apology from the opposition for paralysing the House. Referring to President Pranab Mukherjee's remark that disruption of Parliament was not at all acceptable, ruling party MPs sought an apology even as opposition members were heard saying they were ready for discussion.

With the winter session of Parliament logjammed, President Pranab Mukherjee made an impassioned plea to MPs, saying "for God's sake do your job", and added that disruptions were "totally unacceptable" in the parliamentary system.
