Who is Sumit of 'Sumit Sambhal Lega'?

Popular international sitcom 'Everybody Loves Raymond' would soon be adapted on the Indian television. The sitcom has already been successfully adapted in Russia, Israel, Poland, Egypt and other countries across the world. The Indian version of the show is titled 'Sumit Sambhal Lega' and it would be aired on Star Plus starting this July. Interestingly, many actors have been speculated to play the lead role of 'Sumit'.

According to a report by Bombay Times, actor Namit Das has been roped in for the role. Namit is an Indian film-theatre actor and VJ, and is known for hosting the show 'Axe Ur Ex'.

Meanwhile, IANS reported that actor Sharman Joshi has been approached to play the lead role in the show. Sharman was last seen on TV in the show 'PokerFace: Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhootha' in 2009. Apart from TV, Sharman is popular for his work in Bollywood and theatre. “The makers feel that Sharman comes close to Raymond. He is funny, expressive and relatable,” a source was quoted in the report.

Adding to the confusion, Mumbai Mirror claims actor Shreyas Talpade would be seen as Sumit in 'Sumit Sambhal Lega'. It is noted that Shreyas made a comeback on TV recently through the show 'Savdhaan India' where he is seen as a host.

With too many speculations about who is the real Sumit, a source close to the show revealed "There have been many speculations about who would be playing the lead in 'Sumit Sambhal Lega' which are doing the rounds. But, as of now, we are not free to disclose any details. The channel would be announcing it some time soon in the coming week."
