Welcome to the madness of LFW
Fashion madness gets underway at the LFW today.
The models have been primed and buffed, the designers can be seen scurrying around, ready to tear their hair out in frustration as they labour over the last minute details of their shows and the makeup artists have armed themselves with their brushes and kits ready for a ‘stylish’ onslaught.
Welcome to the madness of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Spring Summer 2008 — the bi-annual event that the fashion hungry amongst us drool in anticipation for!
Ready to knock your socks (or maybe we should say ‘leggings’ in keeping with the latest trend) off is a retinue of 54 designers, 32 models, 91 buyers (international and local), 400 media persons, 14 sponsors and 500 people working round the clock to make this event a success.
On the lines of international fashion weeks, this season LFW also has three show directors — Marc Robinson, Anu Ahuja and Lubna Adams — who will ensure a smooth, slick show. In short, a treat for all the senses. The show directors along with a dedicated backstage team will be in charge of the fittings and the individual production of each show. So, if anything goes wrong you know who to blame!
Ensuring that the comfort of their guests will always be paramount, this season at the LFW there will be four lounges where guests can relax and enjoy a drink between shows.
Kicking off the week (for Day 1 show schedule, see box) with her collection for the Gitanjali Lifestyle Jewellery Extravaganza, is Neeta Lulla who’s show features 22 pieces that promise to speak of love, romance and all things feminine, accentuated by their fluid lines and simplistic silhouettes. “The colour palette consists of pastels and the spirit of the collection veers more towards a festive look with interesting quick-drape sarees,” says Neeta, as she rushes to put in her finishing touches to the ensembles.
