After receiving positive responses from viewers across the board, actor Sunny Wayne, who portrayed Sreekuttan in the series, sat down with ETimes for a candid chat. He shared his experiences about life in 'Perilloor,' the fictional village created by writer Deepu.

"The team gave me the one-liner that Sreekuttan is the innocent guy from Perilloor, desperate to get married. He's not a funny guy, but even his serious conversations with his buddies will make you laugh. Without a second thought, I said yes to the series. I badly wanted to try some humor, as I had been doing a lot of dark humor and thrillers. I wanted to play a character that the family audience would love, and here he is. Everyone is still recovering from the pandemic, so we all wish to laugh. The series invites you to Perilloor, the land of unique people; you get to be one among them and just enjoy it," Sunny said.

"Besides the humorous characters that captivated the audience in the series, the tranquil beauty of Perilloor also drew in viewers. Sunny proudly reveals that it was shot in none other than his hometown, Wayanad."

"To be honest, I hadn't truly experienced the mystic beauty of my hometown to this extent before. While we've seen some beautiful spots in the village, the panoramic view was genuinely enchanting. The shoot took place during March-April, the optimal time in Wayanad. Locations like Ambukuthi Mala, The Kavala, Panchayat Office, Temple, Paddy field – some of my friends abroad called me, expressing a strong sense of nostalgia after watching the series," added the actor.

Discussing his second favorite character in the series following Sreekuttan, Sunny promptly pointed out Keman Soman, portrayed by Ashokan.

"I don't believe anyone else can portray this character with such perfection. The character never lets failures affect him but rather says, 'We will see in the next election,'" shared Sunny.

The scene that captivated viewers of the series is the Aanukaanal (The groom-seeing ceremony), which was the exact opposite of the usual tradition. Speaking about the scene, Sunny shared that he felt shy doing it.

"Aanu Kaanal is not something we are familiar with. So doing something on-screen for the first time was interesting. At the same time, I was very shy initially. More than that, the series has delivered a very strong message of gender equality to the viewers wrapped in humor," he added.

Despite the booming popularity of Malayalam web series and OTT special shows, Sunny suggests that it is too early to comment on the future of the platform.

"To comment on the future of the OTT platform, perhaps we need to wait for a few more years. Certainly, it's the beginning of a new era, but it is just the start. For an artist, a web series and a movie are almost the same. It is the makers, especially the writer, who makes it different," he concluded.

On the work front, Sunny Wayne is eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming movies 'Written & Directed by God' and 'Turkish Tharkkam'. He is also gearing up for the shoots of the next project by director Maju, known for the film "Appan.
