‘Twenty Five, Twenty One’

The plot of the series follows the time around the Asian financial crisis, where Na Hee Do is striving to be the best fencer, while Baek Ye Jin tries his level best to make ends meet, and the two bump into each other time and time again. The story is interestingly told through different time frames, and is set up from the future after Hee Do’s daughter finds her mom’s personal diary. Netflix has all of the episodes for this show on their platform.

4/8

‘Titanic’

The iconic ‘Titanic’ film is yet another one of Jungkook’s recommendations that should be added to your watchlist. The film tells the story of the iconic Titanic ship from the perspective of its last remaining survivor, Rose. It jumps back and forth in time, as an expedition team tries to unearth the mysteries of the ship while listening to Rose’s side of the story and what actually went down on the unsinkable ship. The 1997 film stars names such as Kate Winslet, Leonardo Di Caprio, Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Bill Paxton, Victor Garber and many more. Winslet played the young Rose, while the present Rose was played by Gloria Stuart. If you wish to watch the film, it is available for streaming on Jio Hotstar.

5/8

‘Spirited Away’

The iconic Studio Ghibli film is another one of the singer’s favourite films and another one of his recommendations available on Netflix. The animated film is about a 10 year old girl Chihiro, who, along with her parents, ends up stumbling across an abandoned amusement park, which ends up changing their lives. As soon as they enter the park, Chihiro’s parents turn into pigs, and the girl ends up meeting Haku, a shape-shifting dragon who tells her that in order to be free from the place, she would have to work her way out to free her parents. During one of his old interviews from his days as a rookie, Jungkook confessed about how he used to wish to become Haku when he was just a child.

6/8

‘Our Beloved Summer’

‘Our Beloved Summer’ is all about two former lovers from high school, who end up getting pushed together again, after a documentary that the two made together as children ends up going viral online. The coming-of-age drama explores feelings of complicated love, hate, and everything in between. If you wish to watch the show, it is available on Netflix. A fun fact is that BTS member V sang one of the theme songs of this Korean drama! The relatable story of love and loss speaks to many people, making this a perfect fit for when you wish to add something lighthearted to your watchlist.

7/8

‘KPop Demon Hunters’

The hit Netflix sensation ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is another recommendation that the idol recently suggested his fans watch during a live stream. He ended up confessing that he even got emotional during one of the ending scenes of the animated movie. The film is about a K-pop girl group, HUNTRIX, who double as a group of demon hunters. They are later on countered by a demon boy group, Saja Boys, who are hell bent on defeating the girls to ensure that demons can take over the world. However, feelings and secrets get in the way of their plans.

8/8

‘Love 911’

This Prime Video drama film is all about love and drama. This 2012 release is another one of the idol’s favourite projects, and features the story of a firefighter who is wrecked to the core with grief after the passing of his partner. In comes a determined doctor, who tries to get him on a better path and convinces him in order to testify for a malpractice case. The unlikely pairing, along with the main lead’s chemistry on the big screen, became one of the major reasons why this film got so popular. Not only that, but it even holds one of Jungkook’s most favourite quotes as well.
