Park Min Young, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, Kim Ji Won and more: Korean celebs joining the property owner club

Lately, the internet's been gossiping more about celebrity real estate than the latest scandal. Preceding Kim Ji-won, a surge of female celebrities has made waves as ‘building owners’. These ladies are giving a whole new meaning to girlbossing by snatching up property in South Korea's high-stakes real estate market. While it may seem like a breeze for our favorite K-celebs to splash the cash, let's not forget the hustle it took to get there. Here's a roundup of these notable celebrities who have recently captured headlines with their real estate acquisitions.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa

BLACKPINK's Lisa recently made headlines with her substantial real estate investment. On April 17, reports emerged of her acquisition of a luxurious property in the Beverly Hills area of California. Valued at an impressive USD 3.95 million, the lavish home is nestled in the highly sought-after Beverly Hills neighborhood. Boasting modern design elements and upscale amenities, the gated compound spans over 1.3 acres and comprises four bedrooms, offering large space for relaxation and entertainment. This purchase adds to Lisa's portfolio, following her 2022 cash purchase of a house in Seoul's Seongbuk-dong neighborhood for 7.5 billion won.

Kim Ji Won

Korean media outlets revealed on April 19 that in June 2021, Kim Ji-won acquired a building situated in Gangnam-gu, Seoul for 6.3 billion won (approximately 4.5 million USD). Built in 1991, the structure spans one basement floor and five above-ground floors. Kim Ji-won, CEO of Jiwon Entertainment Co., Ltd., made the purchase under her company's name, with no major renovations undertaken since. The actress operates a rental business from the basement to the third floor, while repurposing the fourth and fifth floors into neighborhood facilities and offices for her company.

Kwon Eun Bi

Kwon Eun-bi made headlines on April 16 after news emerged that she finalized a deal to buy a detached house near Jungnangcheon Stream in Songjeong-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, last month. The property, spanning from one basement floor to three floors above ground, boasts a land area of 106 square meters and a total floor area of 192.45 square meters. With a price tag of 2.4 billion won, Kwon is set to complete the transaction in June, officially becoming the proud owner of the building.

Lee Hyeri

Reportedly, on April 8, Hyeri made headlines for purchasing a building in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, through her corporation established in December 2020. The property, aged 20 years since its completion, was bought for a reported KRW 4.39 billion. Hyeri proceeded to seek reconstruction approval in March 2021, ultimately granted in May of the following year. The renovated four-story structure now has a total floor area of 499.8 square meters. Presently, the combined market value of the building and land is estimated at 7.5 billion won, showcasing a notable market price difference of 3 billion won.

Park Min Young

Reports from April 10 revealed that a family corporation, with Park Min-young serving as an in-house director, acquired a building in Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul back in April 2018. The purchase price stood at 4.385 billion won, followed by subsequent new construction activities. Estimated construction expenses amounted to around 2.4 billion won, bringing the total acquisition cost to approximately 7.3 billion won. Presently, market projections indicate a value surge to 11 billion won.
