NewJeans has officially addressed the ongoing legal dispute with their agency, ADOR. On November 29, NewJeans announced through their agency, ADAM, that they were severing ties with ADOR due to contract violations. In response, on December 3, ADOR filed a petition with the Seoul Central District Court, seeking legal confirmation of the contracts’ validity.

In light of ADOR’s legal action, NewJeans issued a public statement on December 6, outlining their stance on the matter.

The group, consisting of Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, began the statement by apologizing for the turbulent situation. They expressed their disappointment in learning through the media that ADOR was seeking a ruling on the validity of their exclusive contracts. They criticized ADOR’s statement, which, according to NewJeans, failed to address the breaches of the contract and instead focused on the company’s claim that the contracts couldn’t be terminated until ADOR recoups its investments.

NewJeans clarified that they had already provided ADOR and HYBE with profits exceeding the initial investment. However, they alleged that HYBE had attempted to damage their reputation through defamation and reverse viral marketing. They stated that ADOR allowed these actions under new management, likening it to the company itself producing malicious comments against the artists it is supposed to protect. The group emphasized that this breakdown in trust led to their decision to terminate the contracts, as they no longer felt they could work with ADOR and HYBE.

The group referenced the terms of their contracts, which they claimed gave them the right to terminate them if ADOR failed to fulfill its obligations. Despite offering a 14-day grace period to rectify the situation, ADOR did not act, prompting NewJeans to proceed with the termination.

The group expressed their regret over ADOR’s misleading statement to the public and confirmed that, as of November 29, 2024, they were no longer affiliated with the agency. They stated that ADOR had no right to interfere with their activities.

Despite public claims of dialogue and reconciliation, NewJeans expressed shock at ADOR’s continued actions of defamation and spreading false information. They also revealed that their managers and performance directors were being harassed, which deeply saddened the group.

NewJeans concluded their statement by reaffirming their commitment to their fans and their desire to continue their musical careers in a healthier and more supportive environment. They thanked their supporters and expressed hope that the legal process would reveal the reasons behind their decision to terminate their contracts with ADOR.
