Lee Dong-wook takes home top honors at Pinggyego Awards, despite no acting Daesang nomination
Popular actor Lee Dong-wook clinched the Daesang at the 1st Pinggyego Awards. The event, unlike typical award ceremonies, took place at an early 9 a.m. slot, leading to some light-hearted banter about waking up early among the attendees.
Prior to the grand reveal of the winners, the ceremony featured a lively karaoke session, with Key performing SHINee's ‘Ring Ding Dong’ and Lee Dong-hwi doing a spot-on impersonation of Tak Jae-hoon, creating a festive mood. A lucky draw event with seaweed and coffee prizes added to the joyous atmosphere.
The most awaited Daesang category included nominees Nam Chang-hee, Song Eun-yi, Lee Dong-wook, Jo Se-ho, Joo Woo-jae, and Ji Seok-jin. Lee Dong-wook, who had downplayed his chances in an interview before the ceremony, emerged as the victor, expressing gratitude for the recognition. He humorously acknowledged, "I haven't been nominated for Daesang as an actor, but I've already gained recognition as a YouTuber." Closing with a light-hearted note, he thanked Yoo Jae-suk, the event staff, and colleagues, dismissing any plans of starting his own YouTube channel to the audience's laughter.
