As news of Lee Sun-kyun's demise by apparent suicide echoes within the industry, it has been revealed that celebrities initially planning on putting their fashion foot forward, will now wear only black ensembles as a silent tribute to the late actor.

According to a report from Hankyung.com, a distinctive trend is emerging at year-end award ceremonies, with many actors opting for black attire. While there is no formal directive for black clothing, the idea gained traction when an actor inquired about its appropriateness.

However, at the same time, it was made clear that there is no 'compulsion' to follow the dress code. "If you wish, feel free to do so," the SBS Drama Awards organisers told the portal.

A spokesperson for a male actor shared, "We received a call in the afternoon on the day when the news of actor Lee Sun-kyun's passing was announced. Fortunately, as a male actor, we had already prepared a black tuxedo in advance. However, we are concerned that it might be challenging for female actors (to find black dresses)."

Lee reportedly would have been considered a candidate for an award this year for his role in 'Payback'. However, in light of these circumstances, there is ongoing debate about co-star Moon Chae Won attending the Award show.

Lee Sun-kyun was discovered unconscious in his car at a park in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on December 27. Police later confirmed he had passed away.

In the days leading up to his sudden demise, Lee was under the scanner over suspicions of drug use. A memorial, located at Seoul National University Hospital funeral home, has become a place for fans and celebrities to pay their respects and mourn together.
