ZEE5 Kannada has unveiled the gripping trailer of its upcoming original series Shodha, a psychological crime thriller set to premiere on August 29.
The six-episode series stars acclaimed filmmaker-actor Pawan Kumar as Rohit, a brilliant yet morally conflicted lawyer whose life spirals out of control when his “missing” wife suddenly returns—or perhaps it’s an imposter. Rooted in Kodava folklore and layered with suspense, Shodha promises an edge-of-the-seat experience for viewers.
Actress Siri Ravikumar, who plays Meera in the series, expressed her excitement ahead of the release.
“I’m eagerly waiting for the premiere myself, since I haven’t watched the full series yet. From whatever I’ve seen during dubbing, it looks very promising. But one shouldn’t judge it only by the trailer, the story has much more depth and multiple layers,” she said.
Opening up about her character, Siri explained: “For now, I can only reveal that I play Rohit’s wife, who is trying to help him recover his memories after an accident. Meera isn’t as straightforward as she appears in the trailer. It’s not a one-dimensional role. The character has many layers, and as an actress, I truly enjoyed exploring and portraying her. I don’t want to give away too much, but it was absolute majjaa to bring Meera alive on screen.”
On her process of getting into the role, Siri shared: “I went into the shoot with a blind state of mind. I had a broad idea of the character, but not a clear plan on how to play her. Working with Pawan Kumar really helped; we would discuss and improvise, and gradually, I found my way into Meera. The team’s support also played a big role in shaping the character.”
Siri also recalled her experience of sharing the screen with Pawan Kumar. “I had always wanted to work with Pawan Kumar, and when the opportunity came, I was a little apprehensive at first. But everything went very smoothly. The process was enriching; he would constantly share ideas and suggestions, which made working with him a great experience. I’m truly glad I got the chance to be his co-star.”
Reflecting on the changing landscape of Kannada content, the actress added: “It feels great to be part of the emerging wave of web series redefining Kannada entertainment."
With its intriguing premise, stellar cast, and psychological undertones, Shodha looks set to be a promising addition to the growing slate of Kannada originals on digital platforms.
