In an interview with Pinkvilla, Prajakta shared that she received a call in July 2019 from casting director Panchami Ghavri Malani, who would later cast her in both 'Mismatched' and 'Jugjugg Jeeyo'. Koli recalled that Panchami told her about a show, then titled 'When Dimple Met Rishi' (based on Sandhya Menon's book), and invited her to audition for the role of Dimple.

Koli shared her experiences with auditions, admitting that she has become more comfortable over time, but initially, she felt quite scared. She described auditions as nerve-wracking, particularly because going to Ramnagar was intimidating. "You don’t know anyone there, and you have no idea who you’re going to meet," she explained. For someone new like her at the time, it was overwhelming to suddenly encounter someone unfamiliar who would ask her to sit down and perform a scene. Despite the nerves, she pushed through and completed the audition.

Prajakta revealed that after her initial audition, she got a callback: "We liked your audition, but we need you to do a test with the boy you’ll be paired with." This led to her first meeting with Rohit Saraf. They did a screen test together, and that's how she landed the role.

'Mismatched', a Netflix series starring Prajakta Koli and Rohit Saraf, debuted its first season in 2020. It's a Hindi-language romantic drama based on the book 'When Dimple Met Rishi'.
