Neelam Kothari on her comeback to Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives; 'I was insecure'

Neelam Kothari is a face quite well known in Bollywood for her great performances and excellent work in several Bollywood superhits. She has worked with many other significant names such as Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Govinda, Saif Ali Khan, etc. She has taken a break from the film industry and emerged once again with Netflix's Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.


In an interview with News18 Showsha, revealing how the comeback was tough for her, as she was not aware of how the audience would react to her after all these years and after her ageing.

Neelam Kothari said, “Coming back and facing the camera in the beginning was very, very difficult for me because people had seen me on screen 25 years ago. I was very conscious of the fact that yes, I had become older and my biggest fear and insecurity was how I looked. Will people accept me? I have aged as well. I was very insecure about that. I wasn’t sure how audiences would take to me."

In the latest episode of the show, Neelam Kothari teared up when she first started speaking about her divorced first marriage. Neelam married UK-based businessman Rishi Sethia back in the year 2000. While Neelam could not muster up enough will to reveal the entire debacle of her divorce saga in the entire interview, but on the show, all the gory details emerged as Neelam continued talking about the turbulent issues in their relationship. As Neelam said before the host, she has been told to change the most unbelievable things including, her name by her husband. Ahana even asked Neelam about her separation and that shocked her.

In response to our question on whether she has now come to terms with these past incidents or if they still haunt her, Neelam said,“Yes, of course. I have dealt with whatever highs and lows I have had in life. It’s not been easy. But, I think women who overcome certain situations always become stronger and are winners."


After her separation from Rishi, Neelam moved back to India and then married Sameer Soni. Recently, Neelam and Samir appeared on Zoya Akhtar's Made In Heaven 2. She has been trying to regain her past glory on the big screen as well. Meanwhile, Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives is streaming on OTT.
