As reported in Mid-day, Batra said that Tikki passed away in January 2024. He regrets that he never got to meet him during the film’s making. But his daughter texted him three days ago after watching the film, saying, ‘You look just like my dad.’ The family has invited the actor to their home in Ludhiana. They also sent him old pictures of Tikki and Chamkila.

The tragic demise of Chamkila and his singer-wife, Amarjot, in March 1988 concludes the film. It portrays how Kesar Singh Tikki, Chamkila's close friend, had a belief that his curse led to the musician's untimely death.

On April 12, the biopic "Amar Singh Chamkila," directed by Imtiaz Ali and starring actors Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles, premiered on Netflix. The film revisits the tale of one of Punjab's most renowned folk singers, Amar Singh Chamkila, within the intricate music landscape of the region.

Numerous films have been made on Chamkila's life, including 'Mehsampur' (2018) by Kabir Singh Chowdhry and the recent film 'Jodi', featuring Dosanjh and Nirmal Khaira. Additionally, a book titled 'Awaaz Nahi Mardi' by Punjabi writer Gulzar Singh Shaunki was published in 2014.
