‘The Gilded Age' Season 3 CONFIRMED just days after riveting Season 2 finale

In a triumphant announcement just four days after the riveting Season 2 finale, HBO has officially greenlit The Gilded Age for a highly anticipated Season 3. The historical drama, set against the opulence and societal tumult of 1880s New York City, centres around the fierce clash between the nouveau riche Russell family and their established counterparts, the van Rhijns.


With a star-studded ensemble cast featuring the likes of Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denée Benton, Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, Harry Richardson, Taissa Farmiga, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Nathan Lane, and Jack Gilpin, the series has captivated audiences with its enthralling depiction of Gilded Age societal intricacies.

Variety reports that HBO executives Francesca Orsi and Universal Television president Erin Underhill have expressed their admiration for creator Julian Fellowes and their enthusiastic anticipation for the continuation of The Gilded Age. Orsi expressed, “We’re so proud of what Julian Fellowes and The Gilded Age family have achieved. From the costumes to the production design and performances, the show has captivated so many week after week. Along with our partners at Universal Television, we are thrilled to continue this grand tale for a third season”. Underhill chimed in, saying, “There is much more story to tell with The Gilded Age. The official renewal follows the gripping Season 2 finale episode titled "In Terms of Winning and Losing", which aired on December 17, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter of the saga.


However, despite the swift renewal, viewers will need to exercise patience as Season 3 is not expected to grace screens anytime soon. The significant production scale of The Gilded Age, characterized by its elaborate sets and extensive ensemble, typically requires around two years for completion. Season 1 premiered in January 2022, quickly earning a second-season renewal the following month. Nevertheless, Season 2 didn't make its debut until October 2023, marking a substantial 20-month gap.

Taking into account this production timeline and the absence of pandemic-related delays or industry strikes, the wait for Season 3 may be somewhat shorter. Still, fans should brace themselves for a release likely in 2025. With the show's consistent critical acclaim and growing popularity, HBO is poised to make The Gilded Age Season 3 a top priority, ensuring its place among the network's most celebrated offerings.
