Jessica Mulroney’s ex-husband reveals friendship status with Meghan Markle, says ‘they’re on positive terms’

After 2020, the friendship between Meghan Markle and her friend Jessica Mulroney looked to have fallen out. However, in a surprising update, Jessica Mulroney’s ex-husband, Ben Mulroney, has made a revelation about the friendship status between his estranged stylist wife and the Duchess of Sussex. Ben Mulroney, who is a Canadian radio and TV host, says that it’s Jessica’s story to tell. He insisted they are on “positive terms.”

On the recent episode of ‘Can’t be Censored’, cohost Travis Dhanraj asked Ben Mulroney about the relationship between Jessica and Meghan Markle after chatting a bit about the royal wedding. “There's so much interest in that period, that friendship, all that stuff. Do you want to say anything about where things are?" asked the cohost. To which Ben answered that it’s Jessica’s story to tell, and if she wants to talk about it, she would, and later added that they are on positive terms. “It’s Jess’s story to tell. I wouldn’t speak for her, so if she ever wants to talk about it, but from what I understand, they are on positive terms,” said Ben.

Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney’s friendship

Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney were friends for years. Before Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, the two often appeared on each other’s Instagram pages and also did outings together. Jessica Mulroney, 45, is a stylist and helped select looks for Meghan's character on Suits, which was filmed in Toronto, and reportedly assisted with wardrobe choices when she entered the royal fold.

Their closely-tied bond was also visible in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's 2022 docuseries, Harry & Meghan, on Netflix, where Meghan called Jessica when Prince Harry was about to propose in 2017. "Oh my God, Jess, Jess,, Jess, it's happening, it's happening, it's happening! Oh my God, he told me not to peek, oh my God!" Meghan said then.

The Mulroney family was also an integral part of the royal wedding. Ben and Jessica’s two sons were the page boys, while their little daughter was one of the bridesmaids. Jessica herself was the ‘unofficial maid of honor.’

When did Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney’s friendship fall out?

According to PEOPLE, in June 2020, the Duchess of Sussex and her pal reportedly fell out after Canadian lifestyle influencer Sasha Exeter publicly accused Jessica of exhibiting “textbook white privilege” and “very problematic behavior and antics” after Exeter posted a call to action backing the Black Lives Matter movement. The stylist initially apologized in a comment on Exeter’s video, but tensions escalated when Exeter later shared a private message from Jessica, who allegedly alluded to taking legal action for libel.
